If your business uses Facebook Live to connect with your audience, there’s an important update you need to know.
Facebook has announced a major change to its video storage policy: all Facebook Live videos older than 30 days will now be automatically deleted. This policy will affect both future and existing content.
What’s Changing?
Starting now, Facebook Live videos will only remain accessible for 30 days after they’re streamed.
Any Live videos published before February 19, 2025, will be deleted after June 29, 2025, unless you manually download them beforehand.
This change applies to both personal profiles and business pages.
What You Need to Do
To avoid losing valuable content, Facebook recommends downloading any important Live videos as soon as possible. If you streamed a product launch, behind-the-scenes video, customer Q&A, or tutorial, it’s time to back it up.
Here’s how:
Log into your Facebook account.
Navigate to your Video Library or Page Content.
Locate your Live videos (look for anything published before February 19, 2025).
Click the options menu (•••) next to each video.
Select Download Video and save it to your device or cloud storage.
You have until June 29, 2025 to complete this process before older videos are permanently deleted.
Why This Matters for Small Businesses
If you’ve used Facebook Live to build engagement, educate customers, or promote your services, this change could mean losing valuable content—and momentum.
At Green Hat, we recommend reviewing your past Live streams to identify any content worth saving, repurposing, or reposting. Even better, this might be the perfect time to rethink your video content strategy and start archiving your Live content somewhere more permanent, like YouTube or your website.
Need help organizing your digital assets or planning a fresh video strategy? We’d love to help. Let’s make sure your content works as hard as you do.
